Equipment
What devices are needed to properly support the demands that will be put on the network?
In its most simplistic form, a WLAN is an LAN that uses radio frequency (RF) to communicate instead of using a wire. Wireless clients connect to wireless access points (WAPs).

The basic wireless, peer-to-peer network consists of these components:
WIRELESS ROUTER:
The main component of the wireless network is the wireless router, the central location that all computers connect to, providing network access.
WIRE-BASED CONNECTIONS:
Wireless routers have one or more standard, wire-based Ethernet ports. One port is used to connect the router to a broadband modem. Additional Ethernet ports allow standard wire-based networking to the wireless hub.
WIRELESS NETWORK INFORMATION CARD (NIC):
A wireless network information card, or NIC, "talks" with the wireless router. Laptops and other wireless devices contain NICs. Desktop PCs either have NICs installed internally or require a plug-in USB.
The next step in the Strategic Plan process is Configuration.
